Launched to coincide with World Ballet Day on 29th October, Duet brings together internationally acclaimed Royal Ballet Principal Dancers Marianela Nuñez OBE and Patricio Revé in a celebration of fashion, dance and the artistry of movement
British womenswear brand NRBY has unveiled the new short film, featuring the dancers in its signature Yves Silk Satin Shirts in Plum Noir and Ivory. The fluid silk catches the light and moves effortlessly with the body, capturing the brand's philosophy of creating clothes that feel as wonderful as they look, without compromising on comfort or style.
“Creating this film with Nela and Patricio has been incredibly special. Seeing our Yves Silk Satin Shirts come to life through dance captures everything we believe in at NRBY; luxurious fabrics that feel wonderful against the skin, effortless style and clothes designed to move with you, whether you’re dancing, celebrating or simply living your life.”
Filmed at the spectacular Longborough Festival Opera, Duet brings together fashion and dance, following the story of a meeting told entirely through movement. The film captures the dancers' extraordinary artistry and the natural fluidity of silk, celebrating the relationship between clothing and the body in motion.
Argentine-born Marianela Nuñez OBE, affectionately known as ‘Nela’, is widely regarded as one of the finest ballerinas of her generation. Having joined The Royal Ballet aged just 16 and been promoted to Principal Dancer at 20, her remarkable career has seen her perform some of ballet's most iconic roles, including Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty and Giselle. Her accolades include a prestigious Laurence Olivier Award, four Critics' Circle National Dance Awards for Best Female Dancer and an OBE for services to dance.
She is joined by Cuban-born Patricio Revé, one of the ballet world's most exciting talents, who joined The Royal Ballet as a Principal Dancer for its 2026/27 season. Having previously performed as a Principal with both the National Ballet of Cuba and Queensland Ballet in Australia, Patricio made a critically acclaimed Royal Ballet debut as Romeo opposite Natalia Osipova. Celebrated for his athleticism, artistry and commanding stage presence, he brings a captivating energy to the film.
A Friendship Born Through a Shared Love of Ballet
The story behind Duet is a particularly personal one for NRBY founder Jo Hooper, whose longstanding admiration for Marianela's artistry first brought the two women together. A passionate ballet enthusiast, Jo had spent years watching Marianela perform, captivated by her remarkable talent, dedication and infectious joy on stage.
When Jo launched NRBY, she decided to leave a rather different sort of bouquet at the stage door: a beautiful cashmere sweater accompanied by a handwritten note. It was a thoughtful gift designed to last longer than flowers and, importantly, something Marianela could enjoy wearing before rehearsals, during her downtime and afterwards. The gesture sparked a friendship and a shared appreciation for beautiful, comfortable clothes that allow complete freedom of movement. In 2022, the two collaborated for the first time, with a collection of easy, elegant pieces designed around the demands of a dancer's life, from warming up in the studio to travelling between performances and greeting admirers at the stage door.
Now, that relationship has inspired Duet, bringing their shared passions for clothing, movement and artistic expression together on film.
Silks Made to Move, Designed to be Lived In
Crafted from 100% silk, the Yves shirt (£180) (in Ivory and Plum Noir) combines the fluidity and luxurious softness of natural fabric with an effortlessly elegant silhouette. Featuring a classic button-through front, covered placket, patch pockets and neatly buttoned cuffs, it's a timeless piece designed to feel just as wonderful as it looks.
With party season approaching, the Yves shirt and the wider collection offers an elegant alternative to traditional occasion-wear. The sumptuous silk pieces can be dressed up for festive celebrations, dinners and special occasions, yet remain comfortable enough to wear throughout the day and long into the evening. They're clothes to celebrate in, dance in and live in. Beautiful against the skin, easy to wear and designed to make every occasion feel that little bit more special.
Duet is a natural extension of that philosophy, celebrating the relationship between the beauty of clothing and the joy of movement.
Jo Hooper, Founder of NRBY, says, "I've admired Nela for years. Her extraordinary talent and the joy she brings to every performance are so inspiring. What started with a cashmere sweater and a handwritten note has grown into a wonderful friendship and a shared love of beautiful clothes that feel as good as they look. Creating this film with Nela and Patricio has been incredibly special. Seeing our Yves Silk Satin Shirts come to life through dance captures everything we believe in at NRBY; luxurious fabrics that feel wonderful against the skin, effortless style and clothes designed to move with you, whether you're dancing, celebrating or simply living your life."
