Discover the art of wine and Caribbean rum through three days of private tastings, exceptional dining and immersive experiences at Cap Maison in Saint Lucia
Wine has always been at the heart of Cap Maison, from Cellar Maison and its collection of 2,000 bottles to the resort’s personal relationships with vineyards in France and California. Now, the luxury boutique resort is bringing these passions together in a new three-day Wine Experience, inviting guests to discover the stories, craftsmanship and pleasures behind every glass.
“This is about discovery, the pleasure of good company and the opportunity to learn from people who are passionate about their craft.”
The experience brings together the best of Cap Maison’s wine culture, exceptional dining and distinctive Caribbean setting in a carefully curated programme hosted by the resort’s Head Sommelier and resident rum blender. From a private cellar tour and an ego-free blind tasting to a gourmet picnic on historic Pigeon Island and a hands-on workshop creating a personalised bottle of ten-year-old rum, the experience offers a fresh perspective on the art of taste.
Rufus Gobat, Director at Cap Maison said: “We want to share what makes wine such an important part of Cap Maison, while creating something genuinely engaging and memorable for our guests. This is about discovery, the pleasure of good company and the opportunity to learn from people who are passionate about their craft. By bringing together our cellar, our culinary team, our relationships with wine producers and the traditions of Caribbean rum, we have created an experience that is distinctly Cap Maison.”
The package incudes three days of discovery:
Day One: A Welcome to the World of Wine
Guests arrive at Cap Maison to find their accommodation prepared for a memorable stay, accompanied by a chilled bottle of Taittinger House Champagne and artisanal charcuterie.
As the Caribbean evening unfolds, the Head Sommelier leads a private twilight tour of Cellar Maison, exploring the resort’s eclectic collection of wines from around the world and sharing insights into the producers, regions and stories behind the bottles.
The day concludes at The Cliff at Cap restaurant with a seasonal three-course dinner, each course thoughtfully matched by the sommelier to create a harmonious introduction to Cap Maison’s approach to food and wine.
Day Two: Taste, Explore and Indulge
The second day begins with a delicious breakfast overlooking the Caribbean Sea at The Cliff at Cap, before guests put their palates to the test in a lively, blind tasting. Featuring hidden-gem labels and unexpected selections, the session encourages curiosity, conversation and a little friendly competition.
The experience then moves to historic Pigeon Island, where guests can explore one of Saint Lucia’s most distinctive heritage sites before enjoying a gourmet picnic basket filled with local delicacies, fresh bread and perfectly paired picnic wines.
Returning to Cap Maison, the day culminates in an exclusive five-course tasting and pairing menu. Fine wines are explored alongside younger, vibrant pours, offering guests the opportunity to compare styles, discover new favourites and appreciate the many ways wine can transform a dining experience.
Day Three: The Art of Rum Blending
The final day celebrates the Caribbean’s rich rum-making heritage with a hands-on blending workshop led by Cap Maison’s resident rum expert. Working side by side with the blender, guests create their own personalised blend using ten-year-old aged rum, then label and bottle their creation to take home.
A light, garden-to-table lunch follows, paired with refreshing rosés or crisp white wines, providing a relaxed conclusion to the experience. Guests depart with their own custom-blended rum, a deeper appreciation of wine and spirits, and memories of three days spent discovering the flavours and traditions of Saint Lucia.
Rooted in Cap Maison’s long-standing passion for wine, the experience reflects the spirit of discovery, authenticity and craftsmanship that appeals to discerning travellers. It brings together the resort’s intimate hospitality, international wine connections, celebrated culinary offering and the distinctive character of Saint Lucia.
Rather than simply presenting a series of tastings, the programme invites guests to participate, learn and explore. Whether discovering an unexpected favourite in a blind tasting, enjoying wine against the backdrop of Pigeon Island or creating a bottle of rum to take home, each element is designed to be personal, engaging and memorable.
The result is a compelling three-day escape for couples and wine lovers seeking a deeper connection with the destination and the people who bring its flavours to life.
