La Loggia: A Taste of the Mediterranean in the Marbella Hills

Executive Chef Manuel Navarro Mena

There are restaurants where the food is the main attraction, and there are restaurants where the setting is almost as memorable as what arrives on the plate. La Loggia at Anantara Villa Padierna Palace Benahavís Marbella Resort manages to be both. Set on an elegant terrace overlooking the resort’s golf course and tranquil lake, it is a beautiful spot for a long, leisurely lunch.

Led by Executive Chef Manuel Navarro Mena, La Loggia’s menu celebrates the flavours and culinary traditions of Málaga, with dishes prepared using local, seasonal produce. The emphasis on provenance is demonstrated throughout the menu: ingredients are locally sourced, seafood is sustainably caught, and the restaurant’s daily bread is made in the nearby village of Algatocín using local flour, long fermentation and a traditional wood oven.

One of the standout dishes is the Coin tomato with tuna belly and fried garlic vinaigrette. It is simple but delightful, allowing the quality of the ingredients to shine. Other tempting starters include the roasted octopus with boiled potatoes and chives, warm avocado with grilled king prawns, Almadraba bluefin tuna tartare and warm Ronda goat cheese.

For the main course, the menu takes diners from the Málaga coastline to the mountains. The baked black sole from La Caleta, Mediterranean-style grilled squid and salt-baked estuary sea bass are perfect for seafood lovers, while meat dishes include Iberian pork tenderloin, Málaga-style young goat with Marcona almond sauce and the signature Retinta beef with spicy homemade potatoes.

Desserts continue the regional theme, with options such as creamy caramelised torrija, Axarquía-style capuchinas and a passion fruit and coconut flan. There is also a Payoyo goat cheese cheesecake for those who prefer something less traditional.

The scenic terrace invites you to linger over lunch and enjoy the views. The service is warm and knowledgeable, and the ambience is stylish and relaxed. Come hungry, enjoy the terrace, and order the tomato with tuna belly and fried garlic vinaigrette - you won’t regret it.
