Rare Wildlife, Live-Fire Feasts and Local Bazaars: Three Festive Escapes in the Seychelles

Mango House Seychelles

Three distinct festive escapes in the Seychelles, celebrating nature, togetherness, food and local culture

Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island, Mango House Seychelles, LXR Hotels & Resorts and Canopy by Hilton Seychelles Resort are introducing three festive programmes bringing seasonal traditions together with the food, culture and natural surroundings of the Seychelles.

Each property offers a different festive celebration: nature, live-fire dining and African-inspired performances at Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island; local art, Creole food and music at Mango House Seychelles LXR Hotels & Resorts; and a makers’ bazaar, traditional Seychellois Moutya dance and a poolside New Year’s Eve party at Canopy by Hilton Seychelles Resort.

Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island

From 20 December 2026 to 7 January 2027, Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island, one of the region’s most exclusive private-island escapes, will welcome families for Wonders of Nature with The Soul of Africa. The 50-villa property will draw on the island’s extraordinary setting, celebrating its wildlife and natural environment.

Built around Water, Air, Earth and Fire, the festive programme immerses guests in Platte Island’s remarkable natural world, home to endangered marine and bird species, migratory seabirds and Giant Aldabra Tortoises. Guests can join guided eco-walks, plant trees and take part in marine-awareness and eco-decoration workshops, while African-inspired acoustic music, drumming, dance and live performances bring energy to the island throughout the festive season.

Dining will run throughout the programme, from a four-course family-style Christmas Eve dinner and a relaxed Christmas Day lunch by the pool to Fire and Salt in Moulin Garden, where seasonal harvests are cooked over live-fire stations. Africa Day will explore dishes inspired by regions across the continent, while New Year’s Eve turns the resort into a culinary stage with international dinner stations, live music and performances.

Expert-led masterclasses will range from five wines paired with artisanal cheeses and hands-on cocktail-making to tea infusions, whisky and gin tastings, Champagne sabrage, coffee preparation and a session exploring the Creole tradition of infusing local rum.

For younger guests, Turtle Bay Kids Club will host crafts, cookie making, treasure hunts, sports and island activities. Wellness follows the four-element theme, with each day moving from a morning yoga, meditation, breathwork or sound-healing session to an element-inspired afternoon spa treatment and evening reflection ritual.

Nightly rates start from £2,120. To book visit: Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island

Mango House Seychelles, LXR Hotels & Resorts

At the 41-key Mango House Seychelles, LXR Hotels & Resorts, this year’s The Season of Senses brings guests together through art, music, food and shared experiences. The season begins with a Christmas tree lighting and continues with Christmas carols performed by local schoolchildren, movie nights under the island sky, gingerbread cookie making, wine tasting and festive aperitivo experiences.

The resort will also spotlight local creativity through artist exhibitions and ornament workshops. Zsaklin Miklos opens the programme on 14 December, followed by renowned Seychelles artist Gerard Devoud on 17 December and Seychelles-born artist and sculptor Alcide Libanotis on 21 December. Finally, on 23 December, the Seychelles Institute of Art and Design (SIAD) will showcase the next generation of local creative talent with an exhibition at the Resort.

Food takes centre stage on Christmas Eve with a four-course Creole-inspired dinner at the Main House.

Christmas Day starts with breakfast at Muse, overlooking the ocean, while New Year’s Eve brings live cooking stations, Seychellois and international dishes, jazz and entertainment before the evening transforms into a vibrant DJ-led countdown at Kokoye Lounge, followed by the Final Fiesta.

Canopy by Hilton Seychelles Resort

At Canopy by Hilton Seychelles Resort, Neighbourhood Noël captures the resort’s locally rooted, family-friendly and sociable character, bringing together local food, music, makers and community initiatives.

The festive season begins on 7 December with the resort’s Christmas tree lighting and the 12 Days of Bounty Seekers at the Kids’ Club, where younger guests can join crafts, games and hands-on activities. Across the resort, the wider 12 Days of Christmas programme offers cooking and mixology sessions, dancing and creative workshops for guests of all ages.

On 19 December, the Festive Bazaar will bring local artisans to the hotel to showcase handcrafted and island-inspired pieces. Guests can gather around the bonfire for a live Moutya performance, celebrating Seychellois music, dance and community.

Christmas Eve at Avocet promises an island-inspired feast, with a seafood display and Creole dishes accompanied by live music from Kodnwar Band. On Christmas Day, celebrations move outdoors for a mini-Christmas Carnival, with festive lunch by the pool and a live DJ set.

For New Year’s Eve, guests can choose between dinner at Avocet, Southeast Asian-inspired street-style dining at Tiger Bite, or Glow into 2027 at Sega Bar, which will transform the poolside area with UV and glow-in-the-dark lighting. Guests can take part in glow-in-the-dark face painting, while DJ Lex a local artist builds the energy towards midnight. Guests will receive a welcome drink on arrival, followed by countdown and bubbles at midnight.

New Year’s Day begins with breakfast at Avocet, followed by The Reset Retreat at Afloya Spa, running from 1 to 15 January 2027.

On 12 and 13 December, Breakfast on Us will bring a community-focused element to the festive programme in partnership with the National Council for Children Seychelles. Guests can contribute a Christmas gift for children in the local community, with all gifts donated through the Council, while children from the neighbourhood will join the morning celebrations to sing Christmas carols.
