Àclèaf at Boringdon Hall: An Exceptional Fine-Dining Experience in Devon

A Michelin-starred culinary journey where inventive modern British cuisine, impeccable service and an elegant setting combine to create an evening to remember

Tucked inside the magnificent Boringdon Hall near Plymouth, Àclèaf is a Michelin-starred restaurant that delivers fine dining at its very best. Led by award-winning Head Chef Scott Paton, this intimate restaurant celebrates modern British cuisine through seasonal menus, exceptional regional ingredients and beautifully executed dishes. During our stay at Boringdon Hall, dinner at Àclèaf proved to be one of the absolute highlights.

Overlooking the hotel’s impressive Great Hall, the restaurant struck a balance between elegance and warmth, with an intimate atmosphere that set the scene for an evening where every detail had been carefully considered.

We opted for the four-course signature menu, although calling it four courses hardly does justice to the experience. One of the delights of dining here is the arrival of surprise dishes throughout the evening, each adding another layer to the culinary journey. The steamed pulled crab with mango and curry was a superb start. Delicately prepared, it brought together fresh, sweet crab with vibrant fruitiness and a gentle warmth from the curry. The ricotta ravioli that followed was equally delicious, showcasing the kitchen’s ability to transform carefully chosen ingredients into something truly memorable.

However, the standout dish for us was the Highland wagyu; it was melt-in-your-mouth incredible - rich, tender and packed with flavour. Dessert provided the perfect finale: a pear creation that was beautifully balanced, offering just the right amount of sweetness without overwhelming the palate.

Throughout the meal, the depth and balance of flavours was exceptional. Every plate was artistically presented, while the service was attentive, knowledgeable and welcoming. A special mention must go to both the kitchen and front-of-house team, whose combined efforts made the entire evening feel seamless. For us, dinner at Àclèaf was not simply another meal, but a night to remember, and a big highlight of our stay at Boringdon Hall.

Àclèaf is far more than a restaurant within a luxury hotel; it is a destination in its own right. From the first course to the last, the evening was close to perfect. If you are looking for an outstanding fine-dining experience in Devon, this Michelin-starred gem deserves a place on your list.
